Historia Prize – two awards for Back in Time project!

Congratulations to the BACK IN TIME team, who were awarded the Historia Prize for Innovation and the Historia Grand Jury Prize.

The awards ceremony took place on 18 November in the auditorium of the Les Echos-Le Parisien group in Paris.

The BACK IN TIME project (Baliser l’Analyse CryptographiK de lettres anciennes grâce à l’INtelligence artificielle : Technique et IMplémentation Exploratoire) brings together Cécile Pierrot (Caramba), Thibault Clérice (Inria Paris) and Camille Desenclos (Université de Picardie – Jules Verne). BACK IN TIME combines the expertise of researchers in three fields – artificial intelligence, cryptography and history – to decipher encrypted historical documents, some of which have lain dormant for several centuries.

This project follows on from the deciphering of Charles V’s letter by Cécile Pierrot, Pierrick Gaudry, Paul Zimmermann (Caramba) and Camille Desenclos in 2022.
