Véronique Cortier: winner of an ERC Synergy Grant 2025 for the VePaSS project
Congratulations to Véronique Cortier, Research Director at Loria, recipient of a 2025 ERC Synergy Grant for the VePaSS project!
As part of the Horizon Europe framework program for research and innovation, the European Research Council (ERC) has just announced the results of the “ERC Synergy Grant 2025” call for proposals. Of the 712 proposals received, 66 projects were selected. Thirteen of these projects involve researchers from joint research units of the CNRS and its partners, including the VePaSS project, led by Véronique Cortier, Research Director at Loria (CNRS/University of Lorraine), Mahsa Shirmohammadi (CNRS/Paris Cité University), Sébastien Tavenas (CNRS/Savoie Mont Blanc University), and Vincent Cheval, Senior Lecturer at the University of Oxford. The grant awarded, with a maximum amount of 10 million euros over six years, will make it possible to tackle a major scientific challenge: combining the analysis of cryptographic protocols and that of probabilistic systems, in order to better assess the real risks of attacks on secure systems.
The VePaSS project, with its interdisciplinary approach, exemplifies the spirit of ERC Synergy Grants: bringing together complementary expertise to address major scientific challenges.
Loria extends its warmest congratulations to Véronique Cortier and all the researchers on the VePaSS project for this recognition and wishes them every success in this promising endeavor for the future of digital security.
