Welcome to Sébastien Wald

19 August 2024

Welcome to Sébastien Wald, a new laboratory member since July, who joins Loria’s Innovation & Transfer Department, alongside Adrien Guénard and Julie Buquet, as Innovation & Transfer Engineer.

Originally from the Grand Est region of France, Sébastien Wald studied at the University of Lorraine. He began his career with a DEUG MIAS (general university studies degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Applications to the Sciences), followed by a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

After these years at the Faculty of Science and Technology, he joined the Faculty of Arts to do a second degree, this time in education.

Passionate about technology and cybersecurity, Sébastien tells us more about his career path and his new missions at Loria:

I started working for the Greater Nancy urban community as an adult educator, promoting new technologies to a wide audience. I then moved to the Rhône-Alpes region to work for a cybersecurity startup. Finally, I worked for ESNs on GNU/Linux expertise services and from 2017 on cybersecurity services, but always on technical challenges. I love technology!

As a transfer and innovation engineer, my mission is to build bridges between the worlds of research and business. The aim is to enhance the value of research to create synergies between current innovations and concrete business problems.

What I’m most passionate about is working in a variety of fields related to new technologies. It’s also very pleasing to find concrete outlets for research topics, particularly in cybersecurity.
