Launched back in April, REFINED is a French National Research Agency (ANR) project which is seeking to use AI to improve hearing aids for patients suffering from auditory neuropathies. We caught up with Romain Serizel, associate professor at Université de Lorraine and member of the MULTISPEECH team (Loria and Inria Nancy – Grand Est research centre), to find out more about this project, which combines machine learning with highly constrained embedded systems.
Congratulations to the BIRD team, winner of a Best Paper Award at EKAW2022 conference!
The EKAW conference (23rd International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management) took place in Bolzano (Italy) from September 26 to 29. The conference focuses on all aspects of knowledge acquisition, modeling and management, whether theoretical, methodological, experimental or applicative.
The workshop “Ethics in computer science: write your own dystopia” is intended for PhD students, students and researchers in computer science, natural language processing and philosophy. It aims to create a space for reflection and exchange to explore together the issues of research ethics through science fiction. It will take place on November 3 and 4, 2022 at the Château du Montet, in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy.
• Malware, or malicious software, pirates our data, destroys our software and hard drives, and forces our computers to pour forth torrents of spam. It is a major issue in cybersecurity today.
• The CNRS, l’Université de Lorraine, Inria, and the company WALLIX have joined forces to step up the fight against malware.
The CNRS, the Université de Lorraine, Inria, and WALLIX, a European cybersecurity software publisher, have combined their skills to step up the fight against malware. The goal is to conceive and develop predictive cybersecurity solutions based on artificial intelligence in order to maximize the detection of malicious software. This partnership will become official on 7 December 2021 through the creation of a new associated research laboratory, Cybermallix.
