Engineer – Cyber-Range Platform

Context:

TELECOM Nancy, the Engineering School in Computer Science of the University of Lorraine, participates to the Erasmus+ REWIRE European Project, corresponding to a sector skills alliance in cybersecurity, aiming at developing a blueprint for the cybersecurity industry and supporting a better matching between industry requirements and sectoral training provision. This alliance includes more than 24 European partners coming from the main European pilot projects in the cybersecurity area: CONCORDIA, CyberSec4Europe, ECHO, SPARTA.

The school provides a 3-year academic program in IT and digital sciences, including a specialized major on cybersecurity, and has acquired a professional cyber-range platform (DIATEAM HNS, https://www.diateam.net/), enabling to build, deploy and experiment realistic and complex computing infrastructures (enterprise networks, industrial networks, internet of things), from which it is possible to simulate and analyze different scenarios of attacks and defenses.

Position and missions:

For the development of our activities related to the Erasmus+ REWIRE project, we are looking for a research and development engineer, who will intervene on the different phases of the project from the analysis of requirements to the design and development of pedagogical contents.

Your missions will be mainly focused on:

  • Contributions to the analysis of training requirements in the area of cybersecurity,

  • Contributions to the elaboration of the training blueprint developed in the project,

  • Design and development of pedagogical contents (lessons/videos, exercises),

  • Design and development of practical exercises over the cyber-range platform, including the building of dedicated topologies, and the enrichment of the platform with new building blocks,

  • Writing of deliverables for the project, of technical documentations, and of different supports for teachers and learners,

  • Dissemination/communication activities related to the project, organization of events related to the cyber-range platform,

  • Administration of the cyber-range platform in link with the IT services,

  • Participation to the working and project meetings.

You should perform some technological intelligence, in order to follow continuously news and evolutions regarding the cyber-range domain. You will be facing challenges, and therefore will have to show passion, imagination and creativity.

Profile:

Expected technical skills:

  • Master level (at least) in the area of computer science,

  • Software development and network/system administration,

  • Knowledge/experiences in cybersecurity (e.g. vulnerability discovery, simulation
    of attacks, deployment of protection tools (e.g. firewalls, intrusion detection systems).


The participation to cybersecurity challenges, or exercises in cybersecurity (such as Capture-The-Flag) is a plus.

Expected human skills:

You are proactive, rigorous, and autonomous, and your technical skills will enable you to be immediately operational in your position. You take initiatives, show curiosity, resourcefulness, and like to take up challenges. You have a level of English allowing you to evolve in an international environment. You have a strong interest in new technologies and cybersecurity.

Remuneration:

CDD University of Lorraine, 24 to 36 months, gross salary: around 2500 euros/month, including health insurance.
