Title of the collaboration(in
english and french)) :Algorithms, Numbers, Computers (Algorithmes, Nombres, Ordinateurs) |
Description : We propose to join the research efforts of the Computational Mathematics group at ANU (Australian National University, Canberra, Australia) with those of the CACAO team from the ``Centre de Recherche INRIA Nancy-Grand Est'' (Nancy, France) into an INRIA associate team called ANC (Algorithms, Numbers, Computers). We wish to extend in such a way a long-term and successful cooperation between Richard Brent and Paul Zimmermann to all members of both teams, in particular young researchers. The support of the ANC associate team will allow to reinforce that cooperation, especially in the following common scientific projects: Smooth Triangular Numbers (Størmer's Problem), Efficient Finite-Field Arithmetic, Fast evaluation of trigonometric functions, and Modern Computer Arithmetic. |
1. AT Costs (paid by the Associate Team budget) | Amount |
Partners invitations | 8987.09 euros (max) |
Visits from INRIA members | 3406.71 euros |
Third party invitations | 2400 euros (max) |
Total | 14793.80 (max) |
Some recent visits are not yet finished on the financial side, so the corresponding numbers are tentative. See the detailed report for more details.

2. Co-funding
As in 2008, the ANU will provide some additional funding through the ARC Federation Fellowship of Richard Brent (accomodation for visits of INRIA researchers, and/or plane tickets for ANU researchers). In addition, discussions with NICTA will be started in 2009, to see if additional funding could be obtained in 2010 and afterwards. We expect the total amount of co-funding will be about 6000 euros.3. Funding Request
