When I don't work hard ...
cycling debates
The following
page is about traffic and accident statistics.
Many newsgroups threads on safety, helmets, or education degenerate quickly
on peremptive affirmations, based only on beliefs. Once faith as been stated,
the only way to go further is to examine some actual facts: i.e. statistics.
I have no idea what the following two sets of data mean exactly (one is
about the relative severity of accidents between modes of transportation,
the second is an international comparison), but they are thought-provoquing.
tours and routes
In 96,
we made a tour of Scotland with Nicolas,
then aged 8. I hope you will enjoy, and, who knows, even get some useful
bits of information, reading my recollection of those great holidays.
Our 97
tour in crossing France from Eat to West, musing along the Loire valley.
Not surprisingly, Nicolas was then 9:-) My recollection of these holidays
are here.
98, the
kids grow, Nicolas is 10 (what a surprise:-) and Simon is 4, just the good
age to participate in his first tour! It brought us from Paris to south
Brittany through a visit to Normandy.
99, guess
what? The kids are still growing. Nicolas is 11 (if the math is correct:-)
and Simon is 5. He has overgrown the backseat but he is not old enough
to touring on his own. That's exactly when trailer-bikes ("la troisième
roue") are the necessary equipment for the touring family. Down from
Auvergne to Périgord, then up
to south Brittany was that year trip.
2000, we outlived the big bug, and are ready to make a "millenium" tour. Unfortunaltely, the weather and other adventures will make it shorter than expected tour. Anyway, Simon, on his troisième roue, Martine and me will discover the Alps, a bit of Swizerland, and the Jura this year. And Nicolas? Visiting the US, he won't be with us...
Maybe,
sometimes in the future, I will publish here our other family tours ...
stay tuned!
