Teaching :
Research Associate (CR1) at CNRS : "Département scientifique Vivant" (previously known as Life Sciences Department), I have worked at the Institut Jacques Monod from 1980 to 1989 and in Charles Auffray's laboratory in Nogent sur Marne then in Villejuif from 1990 to 2001. In 1998, I had to move to Lorraine for familial reasons. I thus started to work shared time at LORIA : Laboratoire Lorrain de Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications in Nancy (Present Director : Karl Tombre). Since 2002, I am working in LORIA full-time.
At my arrival at Loria I have been working in the Langue et Dialogue team, together with Malika Smaïl-Tabbone . Since autumn 2003 we are both part of the
ORPAILLEUR team.
In1977, I passed the admission to the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Sèvres-Ulm).I then studied Biochemistry and Physiology in Universities Paris VI and Paris VII. I received my PhD in Molecular Biology in 1982 and my Doctorat d'Etat (equivalent to the Habilitation) in 1988. I also succeeded in the Agregation in Physiologie-Biochimie in 1980. More recently in 2001, I obtained a Master in Computer Sciences : DESS Informatique Double Compétence at the University Henri Poincaré .
My work at LORIA is carried out in the frame of the BIOINFO : Bioinformatique et Applications à la Génomique project which started in 2000 thanks to the Lorraine Contrat de Plan Etat-Région. My motivation concerns mainly the best possible exploitation of the fabulous amount of data contained in the numerous heterogeneous biological databases existing today. Main application domain concerns human genes and their relations to rare and multifactorial diseases.
From 2004 to 2007, I have been the coordinator of a working group - seminar funded by the ACI IMPBio about Information Systems Integration in Biology (ISIBio). Read more : Groupe de Travail-Séminaire ISIBio . See also the final report (although in french :-( !).
From December 2004 to December 2006, I have been coordinating the Bioinformatics project at Loria "Bioinformatique et Applications à la Génomique" financed by the Contrat de Plan Etat-Région : PRST-Lorraine "Intelligence Logicielle" (2000-2006). See the program of the conclusion seminar : Journée Bioinfo, September 28 2007.
Since 2007, I am coordinating the present Bioinformatics project "Modelling of Biomolecules and their Interactions" (MBI) that is financed by the Contrat de Projet Etat-Région : PRST-Lorraine "Modelling, Information and Numerical Systems (MISN)" (2007-2013).
Since September 2007, I am a member of the Direction Teams of LORIA and Research Center INRIA Nancy - Grand-Est as animator of the transversal theme : "Computer and Living Sciences". See the presentation (although i French !) at the laboratory evaluation by AERES, February 13, 2008.
